Who doesn't love magazines? I certainly do.
But what I love even more is the free magazines I get — ones that I've signed up for free online.
So what do I get?
Electronic Gaming Monthly
PC Magazine
Games for Windows
Comics Buyer's Guide
Prosper (a Sacramento mag, even though I live in Boston)
I just got a subscription to Sound & Vision and my wife gets Cruise Traveler.
All for a grand total of $0.
And here's the great part — these are obviously not all trade mag zines. Trade publications are normally free, so getting a subscription isn't too difficult — but for consumer mags, free is difficult to come by.
If you're interested in getting offers for free magazines — they come often, but not so often that you wish you didn't sign up — check out Mercury Magazines. They won't have all of the mainstream mags, but every so often they do have a great offer.
But always be on the lookout for free magazine subscriptions — I used to pay for EGM, and now I don't.
It's like they said — food tastes that much better when it is free. It's the same with magazines — it almost reads better when it's free.
