The First National Bank of Omaha (FNBO) has just launched their first online savings account, which offers a 6% APY.

Earlier this year, HSBC offered a temporary 6% APY, but FNBO's interest rate puts it at the top of current offerings.

The rate will not change until Sept. 28, 2007 for deposits made before any rate changes are announced, so it will be interesting to see if the 6% rate sticks around for awhile.

Rajive Johri, president and director, First National Bank of Omaha, and George Tubin, research director, TowerGroup participated in a podcast on the benefits of online savings accounts - download it here.
