HSBC Direct will give away a total of $50,000 to online savers as part of their Dash Savers sweepstakes.

There are six prizes, with the grand prize winner taking home $20,000, first place receiving $10,000, and four second prizes netting $5,000 a piece.

In order to enter, you must deposit a minimum of $250 into either your HSBC online savings account, online payment account, or CD.

But you can't continuously deposit and remove the money. To receive one entry, your accounts must total at least $250 more than the previous week (eight entires total).

The contest only runs until Nov. 30 — and it's started now. Read the official rules on eligibility.

You can also enter the contest without depositing any money by sending in your information to HSBC.

You may also enter by hand printing your name, complete address including ZIP code (no P.O. boxes accepted), daytime telephone number with area code, date of birth and last four digits of SSN on a 3" x 5" card, putting the 3" x 5" card in a stamped envelope and mailing it to: HSBC's "$20K Dash Savers Sweepstakes," P.O. Box 8830, Westport, CT 06888. Limit one (1) entry per outer envelope.

Given HSBC's recent rate droppage, it's not a shock that the company wants you to commit more money to them.

It's good news for me, at least, since I have automatic deposits set up for my housing fund with HSBC. That should give me at least two entries in the contest.
