I don't check into my account that often — everything is automated — but want to know: have you had problems accessing your HSBC Direct account recently?

Ouch. Reliability is a must with online savings. Hopefully their problems don't re-occur on a regular basis.
I experienced this problem and it was quite disconcerting, although it wasn't down for long. With no HSBC ATM or brick and mortar near me (I'm in Maine; the nearest ATM is a 4 hour drive away in Connecticut), I began to wonder what would happen if the HSBC site was down for a significant amount of time. I've direct deposit my pay with HSBC and almost all my bills are on autopay, so I'd be fine for a while, but I still need to hop online occasionally to shuffle money around. Lesson learned, I'll now keep a little more in my trusty local credit union for quick access to cash, just in case my virtual bank takes another virtual holiday.
